This piece has been designated as Advanced due to the time signature, and the chromatic nature of the music. It is somewhat harder to read than play, as is often the case with 21st century music. Once the gestures are understood, the execution and memorization of the piece will happen in a traditional musical fashion. A Classical or Romantic scherzo was usually in 3/4 time, but our era needs something new! So, the melody line is comprised of short segments, while the harmony uses 4ths and augmented 4ths in quartal structures. There are sections of scalar contrary motion, and ostinato melodies based on 4ths as well. The audio sample shows how much fun movement and bright color are present in this music.
