Product Description

Pavlovsk Polka is a quick polka subtitled "quasi Galopp" (gallop) by Johann Strauss Jr.. Between 1856 and 1865 and again in 1869 Johann Strauss conducted the summer concerts at Pavlovsk near St. Petersburg in Russia with his orchestra and substituted by his brothers Josef and Eduard. The Pavlovsk Polka was composed in 1856, had 16 performances during the short season in Pavlovsk and was published only in St. Petersburg. The arrangement is one half tone higher than the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2009 at the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, Austria. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/von-der-donau-bis-zur-wolga/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/von-der-donau-zur-wolga/hnum/10428691?iampartner=303&subid=umr37&ref=partner.jpc.de .
