Product Description

The waltz Wein, Weib und Gesang (Wine, Women and Song) by Johann Strauss Jr. was originally composed in 1869 as a choral waltz for the Vienna Men's Choir Society. It premiered on 2 February 1869 in the Dianabad Hall in Vienna. Many critics were enthusiastic about this waltz, as well as Strauss' personal friend Johannes Brahms, who quoted it musically in his string quartet Opus 51. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their "New Year's Concert" on 6 January 2011 at the "Grosses Festspielhaus" (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria. A live recording of this concert is available at https://www.salzburg-windphilharmonic.at/de/kristalle-der-musik/ or https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/kristalle-der-musik/hnum/10428743?iampartner=303&subid=umr50&ref=partner.jpc.de .
