The piece begins with a pensive tone in D minor (one flat), then transitions to D major for an uplifting and comforting conclusion. This arrangement is keyed for medium voices with a range of A3 to C5 for a Mezzo-Soprano or Alto or A2-C4 for a Baritone singing one octave lower than written.
