Let Your Words - Tim McVittie

An anthem for treble voices, in 2 parts, with an optional solo first verse.
This reflective anthem is perfect for choirs as a blessing. The melody is very "singable" with a gentle accompaniment and some gorgeous harmonies. The Amens in the final coda section soar to a stunning climax for your more able singers.
It works just as well with piano or organ.

The words are taken from psalm 119, with God's word as a guiding light. It would also work in services where light plays an important role for example, Advent or Candlemas.

Let your words be a lantern to my feet
Let you words be my guide, I am not overcome.
Your word is eternal,
A light to lighten my path.
Let your words be a lantern to my feet.

I will keep your words close to my heart,
I will not sin against you.
Your words guide me,
Your words nourish me,
Your words lead me,
Your words carry me,
Let your words be a lantern to my feet.
Amen

The recording is from the first performance of the piece, which was sung as some of our choir came back together after lockdown in 2021.
