Product Description

This is the sixth piece from my set of 18 intermediate piano preludes. The primary teaching goal is the measured trill in the right hand against the staccato chords in the left hand. The B section offers a contrast with both hands playing legato.

Right from the very start there is a sense of danger in the music. The biting dissonance in the chords of the left hand lead to a definite feel of troops marching through the streets. The short three-note figures in the right hand represent the furtive glances of our hero seeking for any hidden perils while the measured trill indicates fleeing from one spot to take cover in the next without being spotted by the enemy.
The middle section provides the listener with an impression of sadness and loss reflected in the eyes of those brave enough to be out in the streets. Perhaps some are courageous enough to help our hero fulfill his mission.
The marching troops return hoping to catch our valiant hero, but he evades their searching eyes and he watches as they disappear into the distance.
