Product Description

In the late 1800's this Union song was written from the perspective of a Union soldier in General Sherman's famous, march through the confederate state of Georgia to the sea. It was so popular that the printed music sold over 500,000 copies and General Sherman even had to ask that it not be played at gatherings in his honor. This arrangement is "extramusical" in that it includes battle conditions. There are fife and drum sections that depict both General Sherman's army and General Slocum's "army of the Ohio" that enters from Sherman's left flank during the battle.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
