Haunting and poignant, this beautiful Spanish art song would be a great addition to a recital program, especially in a set (see other Spanish compositions by William P. Gorton: Luna reluciente, Valentía, Brezo). Intended to be sung in Castillian Spanish (i.e. the title would be pronounced bre-tho, with flipped "r" and theta-ized "z" and "c" where appropriate).
