The Cape Seashore Seahorses live in the coastal waters of South Africa. They have only been found in a small geographical area, in some rivers and estuaries, and they have a greatly reduced population due to recent floods. These little seahorses are only 5-11 centimeters long. They are actually considered a "fish" and are related to other fish called "sea dragons." The Cape Seashore Seahorses are a mixed green and brown color with dark spots and a short snout. They have a smoothly arched neck and no crown and use their tails to attach themselves to things. They absorb plant vegetation through their snouts and have no stomachs. The Cape Seashore Seahorses have became endangered due to loss of habitat, pollution, and threats to their food sources.
