The Blue Whale is sometimes called "giant" or "Leviathan." Blue Whales are the largest known animals and are found in every ocean. They can reach up to 100 feet in length and can weigh as much as 3,000 pounds. Blue Whales are long and slender, blue-grey in color, and have a flat, u-shaped head. They mainly eat krill, a tiny fish or crustacean, diving for up to 10 minutes at a time to feast on the little creatures. Living for up to 80 years, the Blue Whale is rather solitary and has only one natural predator: the Orca. Blue Whales are considered endangered because their populations have not recovered sufficiently to take them off the endangered species list. Ship's sonor can cause Blue Whales to lose their way and beach, and global warming is adversely affecting their food supply.
