Product Description

A contemporary treatment for a cappella big band.

Standard big band scoring without rhythm section (5 Sax 8 brass + optional flute and tuba) This chart is scored for a cappella big band horn section to open up a different sound world in concert programmes. Opening with a soulful first verse from the five saxes in 3/4 time and concluding with a gentle bossa nova treatment in 4/4 for the full band. Coming in at two and a half minutes duration, this chart if perfect if you want a short Christmas item for your festive big band programme. No improvisation is required in this arrangement but playing with good time is essential to pulling off this chart without the safety net of the rhythm section. This score uses flugelhorns rather than trumpets for big warm sound and the optional extra tuba part can really fatten up the bass end if available. This chart also comes with a set of "World Parts". There are Bb treble clef transpositions of all the trombone parts to allow them to be used by treble reading players or to be substituted for Bb euphoniums/baritones. There is also a Horn in F (substitute for trombone 1) included and an optional flute part.
