Product Description

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov wrote Capriccio Espagnol in 1887 as a showpiece for orchestra that featured several Spanish folk melodies. Its second movement, Variazioni, is a set of variations. What is so fascinating about this theme and variations is that neither the melody nor harmony drastically change; it is the orchestration that carries this movement. Honoring that, this arrangement for brass quintet gives each player a chance to play the theme. First, trumpet one, then trombone, then tuba, then 2nd trumpet, and finally trumpet one again. As always, players should research the orchestral version in order to grasp the tempo changes and style.
