Pevernage fu uno dei pochi compositori fiamminghi a non lasciare i Paesi Bassi nei decenni turbolenti delle guerre di religione. Notevole soprattutto per un cattolico, visto che i calvinisti osteggiavano la musica polifonica. Ci sono giunti oltre 200 sue composizioni, divise in ugual modo tra sacre e profane.
A Pater Noster by André Pevernage, one of the few Flemish composers who did not leave the Netherlands during the religious wars between Catholics and Calvinists (who did not like polyphony and even burnt up the musical library of Anvers Cathedral).
Some more of 200 compositions by him reached us, half secular, half religious. This one was published in a collection of sacred songs 2 years before the composer's death.
