Product Description

This cheerful German Christmas Carol, also known as "The Echo Carol" or "While By the Sheep," has been arranged for a string quartet. The Violin 3 part is the same as the Viola part in case a Viola player is not available. Violin 1 carries the melody for the first verse and then alternates the melody with Violin 2 throughout the second verse to reinforce the "echo" theme.

This is an excellent arrangement for a late beginner to intermediate string group since all notes on the violin and viola can be played in the first position and up to the second position for the cello. Plenty of movement for all parts makes this a fun piece for everyone and the upbeat melody intertwined with intricate harmonies will keep the listeners engaged. Also, the many "echo" phrases allow ample practice in perfecting dynamic techniques.

Ranges are as follows: Violin 1--E4 to B5; Violin 2--B3 to G5; Violin 3 (Viola)--G3 to B4; Cello--E2 to B3. The purchase price includes the full 5 staff, 6 page score plus a 2 page score for each part. Duration 1:45
