Gobbi was known as a great violinist, but he was also a gifted pianist. This score is a transcription of his composition from the only record left of him playing the piano in Radio El Mundo in the last years of his life.

"A mis manos" is a milonga with a distinctly country style. It was recorded by Gobbi and his orchestra with Alfredo del Rio on vocals in 1955. The solo piano version is more intimate, delicate, and filled with phrasing and rubato.

Alfredo Gobbi was "a great forgiven" in tango history. His work as composer, conductor, arranger and violinist was admired by great tango musicians. As Piazzola said "Alfredo was the father of all of us, those of us who make modern tango".
