A new arrangement as sung by Julie London for my Jazzband concert, representing the various titans of Jazz which includes this transcription of the recording of this jazz standard in the bossa style. Arranged for traditional big band in mind but keeping as close to the original, there are 2 x Trombone and 2x Trumpet in addition to maintaining a useful scoring for schools and professional ensembles alike. Woodwind such as Clarinets x 2 adds to the versatility and inclusion, whilst the 2x Flute parts add to the strings and also double the Saxophones, adding more punch. I also had them double for some sections on Piccolo. I transcribed the original piano solos and added simplified solos for intermediate level pianists. It was a challenge when arranging to keep the on stage sound to a manageable level being a 58 piece orchestra, so that the Strings could add their sonorous and rich sounds at the forefront and indeed, to allow the Pizz sections to feature, this was help by putting string mics on the 1st desk of each section, but if you have more space, even better results can be achieved by adding more string players. It all worked really well.
