Out There was written for the 1996 Disney Animated Film The Hunchback of Notre Dame, with music by Alan Menken and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. This piece is sung by the main character, Quasimodo, as he longs to leave the bell tower of Notre Dame where he is trapped. He imagines the world in an idealistic manner and dreams what it would be like to be out there with people who have freedom. This uplifting piece is sure to bring smiles to any audience that hears it and any band that plays it. It is filled with joy and a little bit of that Disney magic.

As you play and rehearse this piece, feel free to play with tempos, especially before measure 27, as it will help emphasize the emotion of the piece. Most importantly, have fun! This is one of my personal favorite pieces of music, and it was a joy to write it for your band to play!
