Isolations is a collection of six solo piano pieces written during the span of 2022-2023, after having uprooted from Seattle to Los Angeles. Different memories, strange dreams, and ruminations are all reflected here.

Pieces in Isolations:
I. Windowpane unfolds with a delicate, unhurried pace, intending to capture the feeling of lazily gazing out a window as mental imagery peacefully floats by. The piece swells into moments of intense excitement and raw violence, with crashing chords, quickly flowing passages and repeated notes, evoking a surge of inner turmoil or passion. As the storm subsides, the piece gradually fades back into quiet reflection.
II. Through the Depths delves into surrealism, and offers challenge and expressive depth for the player (note a general sense of unbalance throughout). The piece begins dream-like, with plenty of space for thoughtful phrasing. A tonal melody emerges, floating over a low foundation of subtle dissonance, eventually moving through spacious textures, moments of flowing mystery, and unsteady rhythms. The climax erupts into a wild and chaotic frenzy, before returning to the calmler, reflective main theme.
III. Shifts is a solo piano piece that begins with a stripped-down, simple and introspective melody. The music shifts through a kaleidoscope of moods: surreal and enigmatic, shimmering and ethereal, violently intense, and then playful with a lighter scherzo character. It builds to a passionate, sweeping climax, followed by sparkling coda, finally ending full circle with a poignant reprise of the opening melody.
IV. An Offering is a slow and measured piano piece with a feeling of stillness and reverence. Delicate, flowing lines and sparse chordal textures are evocative of a very quiet and introspective night in the desert.
V. Memory Cycles is solo piano piece that reflects on a wide array of memories from growing up, weaving sometimes wistful moments of introspection with vibrant bursts of energy. The music alternates between delicate moments, swirling gestures, and stormy dynamic passages that evoke the rush of vivid recollections.
VI. Barrow explores an interplay of mystery, tenderness, and the poignant echoes of emotional memories. Its a remembrance of those no longer near. Gentle and expressive, the music invites you to take a slow walk through a torchlit barrow, while reflecting on things that time cannot erase.
