In 1962 Tito Puente reworked Israel Cachao Lopezs 1957 danzon-mambo, Chanchullo, to release Oye Como Va as a cha-cha. Carlos Santana reinterpreted it again in 1970 to included it on his second album as a mixture of Latin, Jazz & Rock sounds. In 1971 it was released as a single.

Oye Como Va is 86 measures of two chords in driving rhythm. Its a great piece for improvisation over the rhythm.
