Product Description

This is the complete world premiere of my string quartet No 1, performed by the Manchester Camerata Quartet in 1997.
The individual movements are also available separately.
It is written in the Octatonic mode but in the third movement the viola breaks out into Dorian mode
while the other instruments stay in the Octatonic creating a fascinating polymodal effect
There are also a few cheeky quotes from the more classical modes, including a Cockney
"Have a banana" phrase in the viola part in various places
and the fourth (last) movement quoting a version of Rock a by baby
