This solo explores the topic of toxic masculinity and the facades that men show to the world. Internal conflict and emotion are portrayed through careful articulations, bold dynamics from the soloist, and a variety of textural techniques such as col legno and pizzicato. Two themes are introduced initially, followed by a development section that devolves in violence and chaotic forms of the thematic content. The end of the piece gives a momentary restatement of the secondary theme and a melancholy hint at the primary theme that is left unfinished.
