This piece was composed at the tail end of what I would consider to be the beginning of my personal journey as a composer when I was attending Westminster Choir College. The piece has no real meaning in itself besides for the fact that I wanted to have a German song in my repertoire. However, it ended up evolving into my personal best-loved piece of lieder thus far composed due to its minimalism and simplicity.
