The "Fanfare" was inspired by my Goddaughter, to whom the piece is dedicated. When she was five, Caitlin received a toy castle for Christmas. I wanted to compose a piece for Caitlin, and I thought that every castle needs a fanfare to announce the arrival of the royal inhabitants. The piece combines the majesty of a Medieval fanfare with the whimsy of child's play.
