Originally written for piano ion 1872 by French composer Charles Gounod, Funeral March Of A Marionette was orchestrated in 1879 and is widely known today as the theme of the famous 1950's and '60's American television program, Alfred Hitchcock Presents. This composition in the key of D minor and the time signature of 6/8, follows the following storyline.

The Marionette dies in a duel. The Marionette is broken.
Murmurs of regret of the misfortune uttered from the troupe.
The funeral procession for the marionette commences.
The mourners take refreshments before returning to the funeral march. *This is indicated in the key change to D Major*
The mourners return to the procession and funeral. *Key change back to d minor*
