Originally a piano piece, part of a "Suite Burlesque," this piece became familiar to many of us as the theme from the weekly tv show, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents." It is a mock funeral march, with a contrasting heroic middle section. The only difficulty is at the end: originally too chromatic altogether, it has been rearranged, but it includes some quick and precise pedalling: C-sharp-natural-flat. This can best be managed by a staccato technique followed by a pedal slide, all in keeping with the character of the piece.
