Product Description
This song is based on an English folk tune. The title and text (not included) come from a prayer-like hymn written by Oliver Wendell Holmes:
Thou gracious God, whose mercy lends
the light of home, the smile of friends,
our gathered flock thine arms enfold
as in the peaceful days of old.
Partway through, the song shifts to the hymn "Know This, That Every Soul Is Free" (used by permission from Intellectual Reserve, Inc.). The two melodies then intertwine through the songs climax.
This is a late intermediate piano solo appropriate for recitals, devotional services, firesides, or other performances. The climax includes octave chords in the right hand and some sixteenth notes in the left. It is 5 pages long with a playing time of around 5 minutes.
