Philosophical Sketches for Violin and Piano is comprised of five movements: 1) Hegel: The Dialectic, 2) Descartes: Cogito ergo sum, 3) Hobbes: State of Nature, 4) Nietzsche: The Pathos of "In Vain", and 5) Locke: Tabula rasa. Each piece attempts to musically capture the aesthetic of the philosophical idea of the the philosophers. The suite of pieces is ideal for concert performance for advanced players, and is roughly 14 minutes in length. Composer Dr. Stephen Weber is a member of ASCAP and has his own YouTube channel at which you can hear performances of his works in the U.S., in Europe, and in Asia.
