Nocturne Op. 9, No. 2 (1832) is the second of three nocturnes which he composed at the age of twenty and dedicated to Madame Marie Pleyel, a Belgian concert pianist at the time. This arrangement of Chopin's most famous piece is for clarinet quintet, featuring a solo clarinet accompanied by four other parts. The soloist must maintain a sweet character in the upper register of the clarinet. All performers must be very sensitive to each other as the piece requires much expression and rubato. The notes marked with slurs and staccato must be articulated, but long.
