The thematic material from the introduction returns in the presentation of the final A section and as a codetta. The piece uses harmonies, swing rhythms, and syncopations that reflect the jazz style. However, it also utilizes more classical techniques such as imitation between voices. Chromatic lines and triplet rhythms are prevalent throughout the piece occurring both individually and in conjunction with one another.
