Product Description

This is the traditional and well-known English Christmas carol, "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" set for clarinet choir (Eb clarinet, three Bb clarinets, alto clarinet, bass clarinet and contralto clarinet with an optional contrabass clarinet part). This would be a perfect feature to showcase your clarinet choir in the upcoming Christmas concert or for performances around town. This starts with a traditional style chorale style melody but soon breaks into a rhythmic ostinato to feature a soaring Eb clarinet solo. It ends with a very stern Christmas statement. The arrangement is very creative and sometimes modal, yet very much within the reach of your developing ensemble- as each part is carefully crafted within the sonorous (and very playable) range of the particular instrument. Yes, an alto clarinet is a beautiful thing- when the arranger knows what he's doing!
