for Ed is a flute/piccolo concerto in three movements written for my dear friend, Ed Senechal. The first movement for flute is haunting and mysterious. The second starts with a rowdy and boisterous piccolo before settling down into a more pastoral mood with flute. The last movement is an exploration of the emotional map one travels when someone you you hold dear dies, as Ed did before I start this last movement.
