The last of the three inventions in five flats is a slower, more stately theme, and is more Bach-like than many of the others in the set. The main theme starts off the beat, and uses a minor third interval in 16ths, coupled with a countersubject of four fourths, rising or falling. The subjects start trading hands right away, and continue throughout. One of the longer pieces in the group at 2 1/2 mins. Works best at this modest pace. Audio clip is complete and plays at specified tempo. An excellent recital opener! MBB
