Angels We Have Heard on High, from a set of 24 Carols set in a modern Minimalist Style, using ostinatos, fixed intervals, and phases. Angels uses 3rds in the right-hand melody, with some 4ths sprinkled in at the end. The left hand uses a four note arpeggio figure that phases in groups of three notes in 12/8 time against the melody. The left hand DOES change with the harmony, unlike some of the other pieces in the set, which have a static accompaniment. Each carol may be repeated as desired, and is pitched in a key suitable for sing as well. MBB
