Product Description

Director Otto Preminger wanted to use Duke Ellington's "Sophisticated Lady" as the main theme for the soundtrack of his 1944 film noir movie Laura, but composer David Raksin didn't think it was suitable. Angered, Preminger gave Raksin one weekend to compose an alternative melody. Raksin later claimed that when, over that weekend, his wife sent him a letter demanding a divorce, the haunting theme seemed to write itself. This lush arrangement for string orchestra contains the full score and all five parts.
