This is one of the beginning warmups that I have my students do when they start studying what intervals are. 2nds, 3rds, 4ths and 5ths are exercised in the warmup. I emphasize (as written) playing the warmup with the right hand first, then the left hand. Both are separate. Then, both hands come together playing the same intervals an octave apart from each other.
