Arranged for two Trumpets, Trombone and Tuba, there is a simplified First Trumpet part for younger players. There are also alternative parts for F and Eb Horn, Bb Trombone in Treble and Bass Clefs, and Bb and Eb Basses in Treble and Bass Clefs.
Part of Gossec's legacy is that he is regarded as the 'musical spokesman' for the French Revolution.  Tambourins martial character evokes the sound of 'Pipes and Drums' which traditionally led troops into battle, and 'Tambourin', of course, means 'little drum' in French.
