Product Description

Babylon is a tune by William Billings which can be sung as a round or canon. Billings (1746-1800) was an influential leader of the singing school movement in early America and is considered the first American choral composer. David Neff's arrangement for organ solo captures the mournful mood of Billing's tune, which was sung to the text of Psalm 137:1 ("By the waters of Babylon, we lay down and wept for thee, Zion. We remember thee, Zion.")
