A theology that seems to be gaining ground in USA churches concentrates on getting blessings from God. Sadly this theology has caused splits and divisions in the body of Christ.

A notable example of God's blessing a believer is the prosperity of Abraham. However, if you look closely at the text, Abraham is not given blessings for his own sake. Abraham is not to get a blessing, Abraham is to be a blessing!

Jesus said Seek first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness and all these things (the necessities) of life will be added to you. Paul told the Philippians that as they had put God first in supplying Pauls needs, God will supply all your needs.

Any theology that represents the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament must wrestle with the concept of the righteous poor.
