The flute part is bright and lilting with the simplicity and clarity of a folk tune. The melody takes the form of A B A1. The guitar part is composed in a style reminiscent of a folk singers "finger style picking" offset by a bridge section similar to renaissance period block chords. Although the tempo never changes, the difference in styles gives the piece a feeling of tempo change fast and light; slow, stately, and expansive. The chords are simple.
