Product Description

Johann Strauss, Jr. used themes from his operetta, Indigo and the Forty Thieves, to create this wonderful orchestra piece. The mysterious Arabian introduction is followed by three Waltzes. Waltz II is the most famous melody.

The pedal and lever harp duet versions are not the same, although they can perform together in an ensemble. They differ in the pedal/lever markings, harmony notes and which harp is playing the melody note. The dynamics and Waltz sections are clearly marked. The score includes a page of performance information.

The Harp Ensemble would perform for 2 hours each evening as guests arrived at the UW-Eau Claires annual Viennese Ball in the student center (1998-2016). The invitation was extended due to the fact that Eduard Strauss, the youngest Strauss, was a harpist. He conducted his own orchestra from his harp and toured the United States.
