Product Description

Habañera by Georges Bizet (1838 1875)

This arrangement is designed to be played by two "like" saxophones (i.e. two sopranos, two altos, two tenors, or two baritones) but could also be played by two saxophones of the same key e.g. alto and baritone, or soprano and tenor. When played by Eb saxophones, this arrangement will be in same key as the original aria. The range of each part is from low B to high E (three ledger lines above stave) (Saxophone 1) or high D# (two ledger lines above stave) (Saxophone 2). Duration c. 406

Habañera, an aria from Bizets famous opera "Carmen" has become a concert favourite and a must-have for the light classical repertoire. The name of the aria is actually "L'amour est un oiseau rebelle" (English: Love is a rebellious bird) and "habanera" means "from Havana" alluding to the style of music or dance from the city of Havana in Cuba.
