A Rivendell String Quartet Arrangement
Spring (I. Allegro) from The Four Seasons
Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) is generally regarded as being one of the greatest composers of the Baroque era. His influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe, being paramount in the development of Johann Sebastian Bach's instrumental music.
His set of four concerti grossi, The Four Seasons (Le Quattro stagioni), represents some of his very finest work, with Spring (La primavera) being a perennial favorite with players and audiences alike.
This arrangement of the first movement is as joyful and optimistic as spring itself. If you play weddings, you definitely need this club in your bag for processionals, recessionals, and prelude music. If I had a nickel for every time weve played this piece, well . . . Id have a whole lot of nickels!
