Georg Mertens - 5 Preludes for cello solo:
"For the Love of the Sound of the Lower Strings"
Several students complained to me, that they started learning the cello, because they love the sound of the lower strings!
But then, once they advanced, most of the cello music is written mostly for A and D strings!
I promised to write music for the lower strings.
Here are 5 Preludes for the lower strings, solo - to play by yourself (not relying on an often absent accompanier).
[grading 4 - 7 out of 10]
Prelude No 1 in D minor - "Sea Waves" - Evolving from one note to an arpeggio thunder.
