Product Description

Back to School 2015. Red House is a lively Playford English Country Dance tune from the 9th edition of Playford's Dancing Master (1695). It is in G minor (in the 17th edition, the key was changed to A minor). I have kept the original key of G minor to arrange this tune as a trio for soprano, alto, and tenor recorders. The melody remains unchanged, but for this recorder arrangement I have omitted the slurs, since recorders more often use subtle articulation rather than slurring to create a legato effect. I have arranged this tune in a contrapuntal style that is fun to perform. This trio is also available scored for three violins as well as for two violins and cello. In the string versions, original slur marks are included in the melody. I will add new arrangements to the Playford Trio category if there is sufficient interest in these arrangements.
