Product Description
"Pineapple Unicorn Mambo" was originally written as a solo supplement for young violinists
discovering string crossings and left hand ngers for the rst time.
Fate arranged for me to visit as a clinician with my hometown Middle School Orchestra.
I expanded this piece for that visit and originally intended it as a
starting point for conversation about music theory.
I was not prepared for the students and director to really want to polish the piece and record it!
Some of the teaching points found in this piece:
1. Relative minor/Harmonic Minor/Natural Minor
2. Keeping a steady pulse in the bass and cello
3. Enharmonic tone found in A-Sharps vs. B-ats
4. Picardy Third
5. If you have an advanced student who wants to
improv over measures 5-16, here is a chord chart:
b minor / b minor / e minor 9 / e minor 9
c-sharp half-dim 7 / F-sharp Major / e minor 7 / F-sharp Dom 7
b minor / e minor / f-sharp minor / b minor
Please don't try to count the opening. Either play a recording of the piece or demonstrate on your instrument.
The juice is not worth the squeeze. That being said, have fun!
