Product Description
Want to improve your brass quintet's sightreading skills by reading a number of relatively obscure pieces arranged for brass quintet by the crack arranging staff at Toot Suite Brass Publishing? Try the Toot Suite Brass Summer 2018 Sightreading Grab Bag! This grab bag includes 10 pieces from a range of genres including ragtime, "Tin Pan Alley", and circus marches, with a reading level ranging from Early Intermediate to Intermediate. These pieces are arranged for performance, but we have found in testing these pieces with both amateur and professional players that reading pieces of this type rapidly and relatively painlessly improves sightreading fluency.
All pieces are arranged for brass quintet (two Bb trumpets, French horn, trombone, and tuba), and include world parts (horn in Eb, trombone in Bb TC, tuba in Eb TC, and tuba in Bb TC).
The grab bag includes full versions of the following pieces:
- "At the Yiddish Cabaret", by Lewis F. Muir and L. Wolfe Gilbert
- "Cairo", by Lew Pollack
- "Casey Jones Went Down on the Robert E. Lee", by Clarence M. Jones
- "The Hurricane", by S. L. Alpert
- "I'm Afraid to Come Home in the Dark", by Egbert Van Alstyne and Harry Williams
- "Oh, Play That Umpah, Umpah, Umpah", by Harry Von Tilzer
- "Ragging the Baby to Sleep", by Lewis F. Muir
- "Sensation", by Eddie Edwards
- "Still Alarm", by Harry J. Lincoln
- "That Italian Rag", by Al Piantadosi
All pieces are arranged by Bill Wilson.
Total performance time is approximately 24:45.
Each piece may be purchased separately, and you may preview and listen to previews of the individual pieces at SheetMusicPlus.
