Product Description

The Gnossiennes are originally six piano compositions written by the French composer Erik Satie over seven and a half years, between July1889 and January 1897. They were composed by Satie in the decade following the composition of the Trois Sarabandes (1887) and the Trois Gymnopédies (1888). Like these Sarabandes and Gymnopédies, the Gnossiennes are often considered dances. It is not certain that this qualification comes from Satie himself the sarabande and the Gymnopaedia were at least historically known as dances. They have been arranged here for SATB Saxophone Quartet. Impressionistic in nature, each of these short musical gems depicts a different atmosphere and may be performed individually or as a six movement suite. Gnossienne No. 1 is perhaps the most well-known of the six. Overall performance time is 14:33. Please contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com
