I wrote this trumpet duet arrangement of America the Beautiful to celebrate Independence Day (in 2020) because here in Texas we've been told to stay home due to a spike in the number of covid 19 cases. I would have normally had a gig on July 4th, but even the gigs that were rescheduled to July have been precanceled all over again. So I really felt compelled to do SOMETHING to celebrate our nation's 244th birthday.

I am making this duet part of our Trumpet Hymn Duet series. It is number 15 in the series.

Some people think of America the Beautiful as a song. Technically it's not a song. It is a hymn. Hymns are in strophic form and songs are written in what we call "song form". And indeed, a lot of hymnals do include America the Beautiful as a Christian church hymn. That's why we are including it in the Trumpet Hymn Duet series.
