Product Description

The Lotus Eater

The Lotus Eater is a very challenging trumpet ensemble work that borrows its rhythmic content from salsa percussion instruments. A formidable challenge to most trumpet ensembles, Mr. Lewis uses a combination of quartal harmonies and triad pairs to create a dreamy but very exciting experience for both the performers and their audiences.

A "lotus eater" is defined as someone who daydreams often. It's a term that is not often used in popular culture. Mr. Lewis chose it as his title because the composition has a very dreamy quality to it. The music tells a story of adventure and conquest, all happening in the dreamer's mind.
