Product Description
"America, the Beautiful" is one of our nation's best-loved patriotic songs. This arrangement is for late-intermediate piano, and is full of pretty, rich harmonies in an easy-listening style. Fingering suggestions are included for easy learning. Key of C Major, played with a swing rhythm (long-short pairs for eighth notes); but remember triplets do not swing. The lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates in 1893. She was a professor at Wellesley Univ. and had taught some summer classes in Colorado. At the end of the session, she and some colleagues took an expedition to the top of Pikes Peak by prairie wagon. She was so overwhelmed at the beauty of our country that she penned the poem that would later become "America, the Beautiful." Two years later, it was set to the music, "Materna" by S.A. Ward. Perfect for recitals, church offertories for July 4th services, patriotic services, and assisted living performances. This arrangement copyrighted in 2012 by Amy J. Snyder.
